Pride & Extreme Prejudice: prequel to Outsourced / Full Disclosure by Eric J GatesThis scintillating thriller by a master story teller left me wanting more! In these busy times I revere efficient and effective writing without needless padding. Eric J Gates will never be accused of writerly indulgences, and that makes me an uber fan. In Pride & Extreme Prejudice he is so on point; the plot is so sharp and the lead characters so compelling that I read the entire book in a single evening. To my regret I wanted to keep on reading. I had become fully immersed in the characters, especially Captain Bridget Mason. It's wonderful when the female lead is resilient, capable and potent; a far cry from the typical sacrificial lamb or sexy siren that inhabits the books of many a male writer.
I remain astounded by the technical and procedural detail in this master story teller’s fictional work. His insider knowledge, beyond the typical ‘research by Google’ of other writers in the genre, shows an authenticity and proximity to the real intelligence trade. I find this lifting of the veil in the shadowy world of professional assassins to be intriguing. It is not surprising I wanted to read more, as this scintillating novel is a prequel. And that is good news. I now look forward to reading more high action suspense featuring these formidable characters in the already published Outsourced and Full Disclosure novels. 5-Star review by Mark Fine
